Observation start time: 09:15:00 Observation end time: 14:00:00 Total observation time: 4.75 hours
Official Counter: Jim Landau
Observers:
Visitors: No visitors.
Weather: A cold, blustery overcast day with a brisk west wind. The 3rd hour was rain and graupel which extended into the start of the 4th hour.
Raptor Observations: 5 TVs, 1 sharp-shinned hawk and 1 adult bald eagle. The local turkey vulture "gang of 8" roused themselves for a brief appearance in the final hour. 3 presumably local adult bald eagles showed no evidence of being migrants. Or perhaps one showed twice?
Non-raptor Observations: 2 common loons, goldfinch, blue jay, the pair of common mergs, Canada geese. A very slow day overall.
Predictions: National Weather Service is calling for, "Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Southwest wind 7 to 12 mph increasing to 13 to 18 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph." This sounds more promising for the chance of some migration movement than was called for this morning. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jim Landau (<landaujr...>)
