Visitors: 25, including BBRR raptor education class field trip.
Weather: Moderate southwesterly winds and some sun to start the day. A cold front hit mid-morning shutting down the flight and bringing stronger westerly winds and periods of dark clouds and sprinkles.
Raptor Observations: A nice morning "clean up" flight on the favorable southwest winds with small to medium kettles of Broad-winged Hawks and a steady flow of Turkey Vultures and Sharp-shinned Hawks. Overall the flight was high and overhead or to the lake side. It was much slower from mid-morning on when the winds shifted from the cold front, except for a half dozen or more Bald Eagles wandering around.
Notable totals today were 240 Turkey Vultures, 56 Sharp-shinned Hawks, and 734 Broad-winged Hawks.
Predictions: TOMORROW: Mix of sun and clouds. High around 50F. Winds W at 15-25mph. Expect light to moderate migration.
MONDAY: Mainly sunny. High 48F. Winds NNW at 5-10mph. Expect light to moderate migration and tough spotting with the blue skies.
TUESDAY: More clouds than sun. High 64F. Winds SW at 10-20mph. Goods winds. Definitely a day to keep an eye on as the next possible big day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown (<davidebrownpa...>) Braddock Bay information may be found at: http://www.bbrr.org/
