Subject: [GeneseeBirds-L] Forster's Tern courtship feeding = nesting?
4-19-24, Buffalo -
2+ Forster's - 1 repeatedly (5+ times) caught minnow & flying a short distance dropped out of sight in area w/15+ Commons. Never saw what it was feeding but assume it was a fm Forster's. There's a tiny marshy area here but a much more extensive area ~2 miles away. This activity is probably common among spring migrant Forster's & not indicative of nesting or hybridizing here. Will keep half an eye on this in the coming days/weeks as supposedly a colony can be "1 - 1,000 nests". Thoughts anyone?
