This morning I noticed a very small hummingbird at our backyard nectar feeder. I briefly got my binoculars on a male CALLIOPE with its flared rosy gorget. This sighting kept me home most of the day watching our feeders but I did not see it again. While sitting on the patio patiently waiting I photographed some backyard visitors.
A male ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD has been at the feeder for a several days and a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD returned. There were several ANNA'S, male and female. I got photos of a WHITE and GOLDEN CROWNED SPARROW because they will be leaving soon. A WESTERN BLUEBIRD pair stopped by for a drink.
On April 7, 2020 a Calliope was photographed at our feeder on rainy day that attracted many hummers.
Do not disclose information that identifies the location of nesting birds of any species, to minimize stress on the nesting birds and the risk of vandalism or abuse.
