Weather:
Warming temperatures, sunny skies, and westerly winds. Winds were mainly
from the west but shifted often between SW and NNW many times throughout
the count period. Temperatures warmed from 60F to 75F with a great deal of
direct sun, making it uncomfortably hot at times.

Raptor Observations:
We had ten species of raptors today. There was a good sharp-shinned flight
and pretty good broad-winged numbers. The day began with a single northern
harrier in the first half hour with five for the day. We also had five bald
eagles and five ospreys. The flight began with intermittent groups of mixed
species but broad-wings and sharp-shins predominated in the first four
hours. TVs made a push in the fifth and sixth hour. Numbers dropped
dramatically in the last ninety minutes. The flight was relatively low to
start with most birds going right over the main site. As temps rose and
winds died the birds moved in off the lake earlier and were seen mainly in
the south and usually quite high by the time they reached us.

Non-raptor Observations:
A yellow warbler sang from the woods to the south earlier in the day and a
couple of phoebes sang, also.

Predictions:
Cloudy, with a good chance of rain especially between 10am and 1pm EDT.
Temps in the upper 50"s, and light southwesterly winds. If the rain holds
off there could be some light to moderate migration.
