Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Sep 03, 2026 12:48 by Drew B
- Laguna Lake, San Luis Obispo, California

- Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "adding this bird to my checklist after getting a better look at some photos. I originally thought this bird to be an eastern kingbird, but since I'm not typically birding in this region and am normally on the east coast, this one caught me by surprise. not being terribly familiar with all local flycatcher possibilities I did not originally mark it as such. after further review this does appear to me likely an EAKB with traits including the dark black cap and back, white throat, slight gray collar, and a clear white band on the end of its tail. largish hooked bill. the bird was hunting insects over the lake perching on branches. larger than black phoebes and sized consistent with an eastern kingbird. it does appear this would not be a location first for this species, with the last seen in the same time period. please let me know if this is off base.

edit: here is a pin where it was seen 35.261359, -120.683685"
