On a country drive this morning along Gough-Red Hill we noticed a bird perched on a fence post with grassy fields all around. It was approximately mockingbird like in its shape, but smaller, & posture but not a mockingbird. We turned around to get better looks (without good camera but with bins). It was brownish with good streaking on its breast, & it flashed bright white outer tail feathers & had a clearly demarcated eye brow. It was definitely not a mockingbird, female cowbird, horned lark, vesper sparrow, or meadowlark. It flew off before we could definitely identify. But the possible candidates don't appear to breed here so were mystified! It most closely lined up with a pipit. Maybe someone else will spot it!
