Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal Center
3/4 - Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center. 10am-1PM. sunny,
42-49F, mid tide- rising, Marsh is unfrozen!
Beautiful day on the marsh with lots of waterfowl activity. Several human
visitors.
Observations were done from inside the building with scope and bins and
from the porch.
On the marsh: 1 immature Bald Eagle far out, (with others being reported),
5 Mute swans, 9 American Black ducks, about 30 (presumed) Greater Scaup, 2
Hooded mergansers, 2 Red breasted Mergansers, 1 Common Loon, 1 Greater
black backed gull , numerous Ring billed and Herring gulls throughout the
marsh, about 57 Canada Geese, 18 Buffleheads, 1 Northern harrier.
On the grounds & feeders: 1 Crow, 6 Mourning doves cooing loudly, 3 Song
sparrows, 2 Blue Jays, 2 Northern Cardinals.
