Subject: [sd-birds] Birding and Whitewood
We birded gravel back roads from Belle Fourche to Whitewood today.
Redwater and Whitewood Creeks completely frozen over as well as all
roadside ponds. Very few birds. .  Sightings included two Bald Eagles,
one Rough-legged Hawk, about six Magpies, two Crows, one unidentified
Blackbird, and one flock of Starlings when we passed thru Whitewood town.

No new sightings at our feeders 1.5 miles south of Whitewood, but the
number of EC Doves has increased to 15+ and we have as many as 25
American Goldfinches at times.  Lots of feeder birds/  I built a device
developed by Nebraska University to keep House Sparrows from the feeders
which is keeping the EC Doves away but not the Blue Jays. Attached is a
picture of the Hoop device.
