Subject: Bald Eagles...Common or Scarce!
Hello, everyone, enjoying the Bald Eagle thread!

I am that summer migrant tthe US....a VIP (Visiting Indian Parent).

My daughter Anjana lived in St Louis for 18 years; and then moved to
Bangalore. After 7 years here in Bangalore, India, she moved back with her
family to Seattle in 2023.

Having done a lot of my birding in St Louis (I used to haunt Forest Park),
I visited Seattle in 2023 and birded there (for the first time) at Juanita
Bay Park, joining a guided bird walk. My eyes bulged and my heart rate
increased as I saw Bald Eagles!

I found that no one else in the group was as excited, and I realized that
Bald Eagles are a regular feature of the lake landscapes in Seattle...but I
have never got over the thrill of seeing these magnificient birds, even if
I see them on every trip I make to lake/sea shore!

I remember going to Alton so many years ago....my blogpost of the visit
(forgive the bad photos!) is at https://deponti.livejournal.com/186955.html

I have also seen so many injured Bald Eagles (one visit to Grant's Farm is
documented at https://deponti.livejournal.com/525385.html)

I love the national bird of your country as much as I love the national
bird of mine (the Peafowl, or specifically, the Peacock with his
magnificient tail) , and I don't think I will ever get over the thrill of
these majestic birds!

Looking forward to my next visit to Seattle in March, when I hope to renew
my acquaintance with the Bald Eagles.

Meanwhile..wishing all of you a happy time birding during the long weekend!

Cheers, Deepa Mohan, Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
