1/14, Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 10am-1PM. high tide-receding, 40-45f, overcast. Several first time visitors today and several photographers. One of the visitors from Waterford signed our "guest list" with a comment---"Bird Lovers Unite" :) A brief check on observation platform by the lagoon: 2 Red breasted Mergansers, 18 Brant, 4 American Black ducks, 2 mallards; with views of LIS shoreline many Ring billed and Herring gulls. On the marsh: 22 Gadwall, 1 Mute swan, 16 Canada Geese, 2 other Red Breasted Mergansers, 16 Scaup ( Greater) viewed with scope-far out, 8 Buffleheads, 2 Common loons-feeding and preening, 1 fly-by Great Blue Heron. On the grounds & feeders: 2 Northern Cardinals, 2 Titmice, 6 Mourning doves, 21 House sparrows, 1 Song sparrow, 1 Mockingbird and 2 House finches. Bev Propen, Orange
