Not rare, but a little curious. A dozen great egrets grazing on the grassy field behind Holy Cross church in Santa Cruz. It appears they are getting small things, possibly worms or insects. This may be the same flock that sometimes flies over where I live at El Rio mobile home park next to the San Lorenzo River heading towards the bay.
