12/31 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10am-1PM. overcast, 33F, mid-tide-receding. A few hardy souls exploring the center- photographers & birders. On the marsh: 46 Canada Geese, 22 American Black ducks, 10 Gadwall, 2 Mallards, 11 Buffleheads, 1 Cooper's hawk zooming past and the Northern harrier was coasting around the marsh much of the morning, along with Herring & Ring billed gulls. A visitor noted one Greater black backed gull by the LIS side. Grounds & feeders: 1 Mockingbird, 1 American Tree sparrow at feeder by the marsh edge, about 25 House sparrows in the brush pile and several bathing in the fountain, 5 White throated sparrows, 3 Song sparrows, 3 Tufted Titmice, 2 House finches, 8 Mourning doves, 4 Northern Cardinals, 1 White breasted nuthatch, 1 Downy, 2 Blue jays & 1 Carolina wren.
