Subject: [sbcobirding] Isla Vista scouting
I did a little CBC scouting in Isla Vista today. The best bird by far was
an Orchard Oriole in a hedge on Trigo just east of Camino Lindo. After
that, a single female Hooded Merganser and a Green Heron at Anisq'Oyo Park
were the best birds. Tierra del Fortuna Park was pretty birdy, with some
blue gums that are some of the more active I've seen. Sparrow numbers were
surprisingly low, overall. There are usually a couple of pretty nice flocks
of White-crowneds in western Isla Vista at this time of year, but I could
not find more than about 5 Zonotrichias at a time.
