A mid size alcid with an obvious dark bill (not hard to see like on Marbled Murrelet) and a messy white wing patch. Erect posture showed an obvious extended neck, pale underparts, and smudgy dark upper parts. The head had a pale chin and lower face, and what appeared as a dark line through the eye and grayish above that with a slightly darker cap. It raised up in the water once and flapped it wings which were grayish below."

Small flycatcher with satin chest, brown wings with faint white mixed within. Vocalized briefly before disappearing."

- Comments: "The only Fox Sparrow seen or heard during our time on the ridge. Heard initially, giving sharp, metallic, single-note calls, similar in quality to calls of California Towhee. Slaty gray on head and back, with contrasting rufous-brown wings and tail; narrow white eye ring; underparts white, heavily marked throughout with dark brown chevron-shaped spots; relatively massive bill, in length, depth and width, was bicolored, with yellow basal 1/2 or more of lower mandible, and entirely dark gray upper mandible; tarsi and toes light pink. Photos to follow."

- Comments: "Warbler moving along trunks of live oaks (between the two pathways that split approx where the water crosses the path, behind a bank of bottlebrush trees). Black and white striped face and body, white throat, black eyeline, black spots on undertail. Buffy flanks."
