Subject: [sd-birds] Ovenbird?
Today in the Bearlodge Mountains, just over the border in Wyoming, I saw a bird that looked like an ovenbird and acted like an ovenbird, but mid-November isn't when I expect them to be around. It was in dense undergrowth in a pine forest, hopping from branch to branch within a few feet of the ground, often with the tail raised. I distinctly saw stripes on the head, and tail feathers that were dark underneath, but I didn't get a good look at the front. The tail maybe seemed longer than an ovenbird's and I didn't notice an eye ring. Of course I didn't have binoculars and it was quiet and sneaky.
