Subject: [sbcobirding] Goleta Beach gulls
There are a lot of gulls at Goleta Beach today (Sunday, November 16), at
least by southern SB County standards. The variety was pretty good,
although at least three of the eight species I saw (Thayer's Iceland Gull,
Glaucous-winged Gull, and Bonaparte's Gull) were represented by just one
individual, in each case a 1st-cycle bird. Most of the birds were around
the slough mouth or farther east. It would be worth checking this location
periodically for rare birds, as long as the large flock is around.
