Subject: [sd-birds] Bear Butte area Lakes
We took a short birding trip this afternoon to Ft. Meade recreation
area, Ft Meade, and Bear Butte Lake/area.  The recreation area and Fort
Meade didn't produce much, but  Bear Butte Lake had a large number of
Lesser Scaup and one Ring-billed Gull.  The small lake by Sturgis lagoon
had a pair of Buffleheads.  Other sightings today included 100's of
European Starlings and large number of American Robins.  Raptor
sightings were limited to 3 Red-tailed Hawks but no Falcons.

We have had no new species at our feeders 1.5 miles south of Whitewood
since the last report except for the Sharp-shinned Hawk which paid us a
visit on Friday 11/7.  Saturday  we had our first snowfall of the season
with about 1 inch of snow which is already disappearing.
