Lapland Longspur (Calcarius lapponicus) (1)
- Reported Nov 11, 2025 14:05 by Russ Namitz
- Hwy 33 Ag Pond (SLO Co.), San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.5131174&<ll...>,-119.5131174
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S284060694
- Comments: "Heard the unmistakable rattle call as it flew over with small flock of House Finches and Horned Larks. Could not find on the ground as large flock of House Finches flushed off the telephone line and mixed in. Birds flew out and landed in the middle of the field (west of pond), and I was without a scope to confirm visual."

Baltimore Oriole (Icterus galbula) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Nov 11, 2025 12:00 by Luke Jensen
- Mentone Basin Park, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.6132531&<ll...>,-120.6132531
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S284079483
- Media: 14 Photos
- Comments: "VERY RARE* HY male continuing since yesterday by Ann Stockert and KH. Seen in usual trees along Mentone avenue in SW area of the park in 2 distinctive trees. The first tree where I refound the bird was in a pacific madrone tree that has a good canopy but is not very tall and is not adjacent to pickle ball courts. The other is a fig tree on the other side of the road where the oriole likes to sit up on at the top. It also likes to hide for a little before it comes out. I got pictures only from these 2 trees of the bird. I only saw it in 1 other pacific madrone tree next to the other shorter pacific madrone tree in the high thick canopy so I could not get pictures. It disappeared for short periods of time like "it was seen 15 minutes ago, OH!, what was that orange thing flying into the fig tree." 15 minutes later: "OH! there it is on top of the tree." The bird then disappeared by flying past a small tree towards the courts. The last time I saw it was 12:55 PM before I had to go. The bird was much smaller then I thought about the size of an elongated hermit thrush. It had a slightly darker head with a faded and rusted peach orange on the head with a lighter yellow orange on the underside of the bird and two distinctive wing bars on a black wing. Also a somewhat "scaly looking" throat and a darker tail. LIFER!!!!!!!"

We joined Kevin Zimmer, who had seen the Baltimore Oriole about thirty minutes earlier in the Pacific Madrone along Mentone Avenue (about 100 yards from the intersection with 14th Street, before it had flown off. Then Herb Elliott arrived and right away spotted the Baltimore Oriole up high in the very same tree, where it stayed for a while before taking off across Mentone Avenue towards 16th Street. After about eight minutes it was spotted on top of a fig tree in the backyard of the residence at 1508 Mentone Avenue, but better seen from the sidewalk in front of the neighboring property (1496 Mentone Ave.)

Yellow overall with orange upper breast; yellow belly fading to light greenish-yellow on the lower belly; yellow undertail coverts; black wings; two white wingbars with the upper one being shorter and wider than the lower one; greenish head; faint dark line through the eye; sharply pointed, shiny metallic-colored bill.
