The Arkansas Audubon Society held its Fall Conference this past weekend in Conway AR.In addition to excellent presentations on Black Bears in Arkansas and on the similar physical qualities of the Cassowary and non-avian dinosaurs, we also heard from former students on their research and on several critical conservation issues. We also offered multiple fields trips over the three days to the approximately 60 conference attendees. Several highlights include a Peregrine Falcon at Stone Prairie WMA, a Say's Phoebe and a Clay-colored Sparrow at Lollie Bottoms, a Surf Scoter at Conway Wastewater Treatment Facility, and another Clay-colored Sparrow plus a LeConte's Sparrow at Atkins Bottoms. These were life birds for many and state birds for others. In total, 104 species. Here's a link to the eBird Trip Report with the list of locations, the field trip leaders and the total species seen.https://ebird.org/tripreport/425029A big thank you to all who participated.Patty McLeanAAS 2025 Fall Conference Field Trip Coordinator
