Date: 10/28/25 6:11 am From: Peter Saracino <petersaracino...> Subject: [cayugabirds-l] "Dormancy" Interpretive Walks at the Montezuma Refuge
"Dormancy" Most deciduous trees have lost their leaves. Reptiles and amphibian are entering brumation. Insect sightings have become rare and the last of the migrant birds are leaving. Mammals that don't remain active through the winter are entering hibernation or dormancy. The natural world braces for the coming winter. Come join NY State Master Naturalist Volunteer, Pete Saracino, as we seek to experience different aspects of these seasonal changes. Dates 11/8 & 11/15 Meet at Refuge Visitor Center at 10 am. Walks are free and no sign-ups necessary. All ages welcomed. No pets please. Also note that the Visitor Center and all restrooms are currently closed due to the ongoing government shutdown.
