Around 10:45 this morning (10/26/25), the majority of birds, including the golden-plovers, flushed from the SW pond 23 island of SoCal saltworks. Thankfully, a good proportion of them returned within a few minutes, including the American and at least one juv Pacific. Scoping from the bikepath NW of 10th St in IB (yes, scope necessary), heatwaves were already getting bad, but one could still discern for comparison broadness of supercilium, paleness of face & supercilium, and wing extension, with the American usually hanging out just SW of the NW end of the ridge on the island, and the Pacific on the SW shore of the saltcrust extending NW from the island. With high tide currently peaking, I would expect them to shift to the bay to forage with ebbing tide this afternoon then hopefully return to saltworks to roost with the next rising tide.
