One anecdotal note on the condition of the fields. I happened to try the fields at Robb Field prior to Dusty Rhodes this morning, since they are larger in area. There were no pipits present during that search, and I noticed that the grass and forbs were noticeably higher at Dusty Rhodes than at Robb, with Robb looking more recently mowed to me. Perhaps that contributes to the pipits’ apparent predilection for Dusty Rhodes, if a real pattern.

After Chris' earlier post, multiple birders were on one of the continuing red-throated pipits in the SE central portion of Dusty Rhodes Park until around 9am when it and the flock flushed to the SW central portion of the park following disturbances by dogs. Over the next half hour, it crossed paths multiple times with the second red-throated pipit (one appeared slightly brighter in the face?), but the second would disappear for periods of time.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
