Followed a massive number of crows flying from Rte 1 down Bull Hill Lane in West Haven to Texas Roadhouse where they settled briefly on the power lines and surrounding buildings before moving toward LI Sound. The only calls I heard were fish crows. Could have been a mix of Fish and Common, but Common were quiet.
Thoughts in the mix and where they may have spent the night??

There used to be a crow roost around the Mobil station on Route 1 near the Conn. Post Mall in Milford. It was mostly, if not entirely, fish crows. It may still be there.
Until some construction tore down the trees, there used to be a large roost near the intersection of Routes 34 and 114 around the Orange-Derby line. That was a mixed flock. About 10% were definitely fish crows (slim, slim bills, almost built like a blackbird) and about 10% American crows (thick bills, shaggy throat, like mini-ravens). The majority could not be distinguished just by looking at them. Calls came from both kinds.
