Stayed high and never came down. Seen foraging twice in different spots a few minutes apart. Warbler with yellow head and breast. White undertail. Blue/gray wings without wingbars. POOR photos. Nick may have gotten better photos."

- Comments: "Random luck tale: Continuing bird originally found by Golden Gloves B-man (according to Russ N. haha). I’d been birding the eastern park area just looking for whatever when I started heading back home. I was walking west on the southern paved path and soon came across B.O’K. staring forlornly into a line of cherry trees. I was like, “Yo homie, is this where the Prothonotary was last seen?” (See tennessee warbler for location). He said, “Yeah, it was last seen foraging here—it was early afternoon—so I think it will show up.” I was like, “Thought so, saw a few birders poking around down here.” He then told me he needed the Pro for a yearbird. I then heard an interesting chip which may have been our suspect, and immediately saw some warblers and finches flitting around deep in the canopy maybe twelve or so feet up. It was exactly 2 p.m.* Then the Prothonotary materialized high in one of the trees. I saw its white undertail coverts and luminous golden plumage—belly, chest and head. I also noticed its blue-grey wings. It popped out twice, enough for me to take a crappy photo of its underside and short tail—then it teleported away. Didn’t see its head for that bit of eyeline I saw when I first discovered the bird five or so days ago, which also means this time didn’t notice its olive-yellow face coloring. Very borbly plumperrific. *B. O’K the prophet said he told folks the bird would arrive at 2!"

Warbler with longish tail, which it wagged up and down nervously; bold, complete white eye ring; drab overall, with olive-tinged gray upperparts (wings grayer) except for contrasting greenish-yellow rump; dingy grayish-buff below, except for splash of pale yellow restricted to the center of the chest, and brighter, more contrasting yellow crissum."

- Home, San Luis Obispo, California

- Comments: "This was probably the same individual that visited my yard on 9 Oct. I had much better looks this time and my camera was nearby. I first noticed the overall gray color and the complete white eyering. As it bathed I could see the paler underparts and a yellow patch on the center of the breast plus the bright yellow undertail coverts. One photo of it bathing shows the bright yellow uppertail coverts. There was no hint of yellow on the edges of the primaries or secondaries. Photos"
Blackburnian Warbler (Setophaga fusca) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Oct 12, 2025 08:37 by Kevin Zimmer
- Del Mar Park--Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.8586752&<ll...>,-120.8586752 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S279233958 - Media: 12 Photos
- Comments: "Orange-yellow throat, upper breast, and long, broad supercilium, framing a dark, triangular-shaped auricular patch (pointed at bottom and rear). Auricular patch bordered at rear by orange yellow connecting the supercilium to the neck sides. Conspicuous white arcs above and below the eyes. Belly and Lowe abdomen white, with scattered dusky streaks on sides/flanks. Upperparts streaked olive-gray and black, with conspicuous pale ‘braces’ framing either side of the mantle. Wings dusky with two bold white wingbars. Underside of folded tail appeared mostly white. Bill mostly dusky, but with pale base to lower mandible; tarsi and toes dark reddish-pink. Not sure if this is the same bird that I first found at this spot on Oct 3 or not. It did not strike me as being as bright orange as the Oct 3 bird."
