Hi, all!
In just over 2 months, the Christmas Bird Count season will officially kick off! Today on my lunchtime walk around the Law School I had about 100 Yellow-rumped Warblers feeding on the ground and in the trees. The ducks will soon be arriving. So it seems like the perfect time to get started with our Morgantown CBC planning.
Here are the details: Count Day is Saturday, December 20, 2025 Count Week is December 17-23, 2025 so if you're birding locally, keep an eye out for unusual species. You can join in by birding in the field, or watching for birds at your feeders if you live within the count circle. Or both! I am coordinating once more, so if you want to join in, just let me know. Our website is still being updated, and I will let you know whenever it's up and running.
In the meantime, National Audubon has given us the opportunity to use an additional platform for sign-ups and communication. Our CBC Circle has its own website here: https://www.mobilize.us/audubon-community-science/event/857362/ that you all can use to sign up if you wish. You will also be able to communicate with the group at large. I have set up each sector with its own private website as well for information and communication purposes. On the Circle website you can see basic information and resources for our count with a short description of our team areas. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I will also update that main page with more information/resources as we get closer to count day.
Feel free to share this email, my contact info, our sign-up website, etc. with anyone who might be interested. Likewise, if you want to be removed from this email list, just let me know, and I will do my best not to spam you this year :)
Any other questions, feel free to get in touch. More info will follow as we move closer to the date and we get more sign-ups.
