Subject: [Ohio-birds] Fall big day results - ok I think!
It was a casual day for me, but I tried getting what I could at two of my favorite
Spots - Gilmore and Fernald. I picked up 57 at Gilmore. Nothing unusual - I think!
I enjoyed the Lincoln’s Sparrow that was perched right next to a Song Sparrow -
Nice comparison! Seeing a Winter Wren is always nice. Usually I just hear. That’s
A great spot to spend a morning! Big miss - always a hard call! But no mockingbird
There. Wow. I always get Mocker there………

Took a few hours and relaxed at home. Late afternoon dusk was at Fernald. I
Ended with 72. I missed a lot I thought I would get at Fernald - no marsh or sedge
Wren. No kestrel, no harrier. No Savannah sparrow. Gees. I listened for Barred
Owl at my house before dawn and after dusk. No. 80 is quite doable! Next year.
During my Hamilton county big year!

Fernald is just loaded with sparrows at present. Including Nelson’s. In off limit
Area though. Sign up for a trip there. Luke does banding demonstrations also
There. Fun to watch!

Of course I missed Bobolink. My new county jinx bird. Hopefully next year!

Monday is back to my big years. Clinton. Probably east fork riparian. That has
Some habitat I think looks good for Nelson’s. I will see tomorrow!

Good birding all.
