I was driving near Barron Cemetery in Vaughn on the 8th they are taking down all the trees from Barron Road to Adams Rd, so far on the north side of the road, except for the loop around the Cemetery. So Sad. It looks like they may be raising the old house with the two big Black Walnut trees that the Egyptian Geese favor hanging around that sits just before you get to Adams Rd. Big branches of the tree had already been cut down and the shrubbery aqround the house was trimmed back.
At any rate, it was NOT birdy at all along the whole road except for one female Dark-eyed Junco that popped up. I think this is the earliest I've seen one.
I walked the fish hatchery on the 7th, I hadn't been there since June.
It wasn't all that birdy either but I did hear and see a Red-breasted Nuthatch. I don't recall seeing any last year.
