Subject: [CT Birds] Florida birding
We moved to Venice, Florida last December after being snowbirds for many
years. If any CT birders are interested in birding the Southwest coast from
Tampa to Ft. Myers, please don't hesitate to email us as we are familiar
with all the local spots and have been birding this area and the Ft.
Lauderdale area for many years. We would be happy to advise or guide anyone
wishing to bird this area which contains many migrants as well as the
native avifauna which includes many shorebirds, Grey-Headed
Swamphens,Painted Buntings, Nanday Parakeets, etc. and the Venice Rookery
which is also home to hundreds of native bats that emerge each evening.
Right now, the Swallow-Tailed Kites have left but they will be returning
around March 1st.
