Thanks to Sam for some of the late day observations. I was also gifted some
traditional Saudi Arabian coffee and dates at the end of the count from a
friend I made earlier this season.

Weather:
One of the cooler surveys yet this season with hopefully more to come. NNW
winds to start the count at 4-7 mph. Around noon they shifted to the NE and
I was concerned I might have to switch to the South Lookout. However, every
time I thought I might need to move the winds gusted again out of the NW.
Visibility was superb at 30 miles for the entire survey. Not a cloud to
speak of with expansive blue skies over Blue Mountain. Low temperature of
6C at 08:00 and a high of 12C by 15:00.

The flight got underway in the 07:00 hour with SS’s leading the mornings
flight. By 08:00 the BE’s started to be detected migrating in numbers
similar to the small accipiters. The flight peaked in the 12:00 hour with
10 BE’s moving through marking the first day of the season that BE’s
have led the flight. The flight tapered off after that, but we did get a
second late day pulse in the 15:00 hour with 8 more migrants moving
through.

At 08:56 a resident adult RT was spotted on the N side of the notch making
its way up ridge over the bowl. At 11:39 a resident adult RT was detected
performing a roller coaster display near the red and white tower.

Several migrating flocks of BLJA during the first half of the survey. A
couple of sky-high migrating CANG too.
