Subject: [Mendobirds] Vaux's Swift Roost in FB
Margaret Reiter let me know about a location in Fort Bragg where Vaux's
Swifts are roosting in a chimney. It is not a large group of swifts but
it was very entertaining watching them find their way to roost. They
seemed to continue feeding during about half an hour. They would fly
about the chimney for a while then move off to above some nearby trees
and repeated this behavior. On Thursday evening they were low and
visible around the neighborhood by about 7:45 and they were all in the
roost by about 8:10. The location is the northwest corner of Harrison
and Bush. If you go please be polite and aware that not everyone will
know why you are there with binoculars and cameras! I am told that the
home is not occupied, but the homes nearby certainly are.
