Subject: [Ohio-birds] Warren county big year - slow
I had high hopes! That didn’t pan out….no terns around. The beach
At Caesars creek was basically deserted. No shorebirds…… I switched
To passerines. Nuttin…… crazy! Same at the marina. And the archery
Range near the observation tower. I figured out where the Clarksville rd.
Marsh enhancement is - there’s four fields - ponds along Clarksville rd.
That are being scraped out and redone. Joy. This doesn’t help me
This year! I gave up - figured it wasn’t a good migrant morning, and hit
Spring valley for odes and butterflies. Success with birds! Limited. But
I wonder what I would have seen had I started here? Least fly and redstart!
We’re new for the big year. Redstart…. That’s how behind I am! Least is a
County bird. Yea ! Number 200 for life up there. My fourth SW county to
Get to 200.

Off to mounds park. More odes! Early afternoon by now, but I am always
Birding! Mourning Warbler! That was unexpected! Seen briefly - normal! And heard
The chip note. Also normal. That’s a county bird too! 201. I would like to start
Here some morning.

Odes - a damsel I didn’t recognize. Hopefully my pic came out! Eastern
Pond hawk the dominant dragonfly.

Butterfly notes - pearl crescent and least skippers the predominant.

Good birding all.
