I was rewarded for my effort investigating animpossibly small bird that flew into a low branch on our backyard cedartree. A Red-breasted Nuthatch was doingwhat they do - walking headfirst down a branch probing the bark. Seeing me, the bird quickly flew up near thetop of the tree, but not before giving that little bugle note. I had not heard that sound in our yard for afew years. It was most welcome.
