Yesterday, 23 August 2025, I noticed an immature Purple Finch in with 20 or so House Finches at my feeders. It continues today. This is the earliest Fall observation in my 12 seasons of consistent Purple Finch reports (942 observations) in my yard. Two other August observations were 27 August 2023 and 28 August 2014. Other earliest Fall yard sightings were September (2 years), October (4 years) and November (3 years). All of my August PUFI sightings were immatures.
