Soent the day kayaking the Upper Iowa with a friend, between Kendalville and Bluffton we had 19 bald eagles ranging from first year to mature birds and more blue herons and belted kingfishers than we could keep a count on. Most noteworthy was near the Bluffton end of the trip. We had a great horned owl perched at the edge of the river (always interesting to see in the day) and just before the lower Bluffton landing we saw an osprey over the river. If the osprey sticks around it should be visible from Village Road within half a mile or so of the Bluffton Road bridge.
