We had both ovenbirds and thrushes in the Danbury/Wilmot area through the
summer. Veery and hermit thrush are most common but a few wood thrushes
here and there as well. Ovenbirds were heard pretty much anywhere I went
(and I walk my dog all over).
Perhaps you have local predators taking a toll. All three, ovenbird, veery,
and hermit thrush, are ground nesters.
