The September issue of Iowa Bird Life is available on the IOU website for
viewing.
For those who get the printed copy, there will be a delay in getting that
to your mailbox.
This issue has a beautiful poem by Laura Canfield Russell that compliments
an issue full of photos of birds in flight. There are some wonderful
essays, including Benjamin Baldwin’s quest for adding a Golden-crowned
Sparrow to his Iowa list. Along with the usual columns and a new book
review by Jim Kettlecamp, Tyler Harms offers good advice on how to handle a
common question raised to birdwatchers, and Chris Caster and Francis Moore
detail bird observations during Christmas Bird Counts and the Winter field
season, respectively. Also check out Larry Reis’s guide to places to
birdwatch in Winneshiek County.
We are still working through format and editing coordination, so thanks for
patience and support.
