Subject: [ia-bird] Wilsons Snipe in S. Hamilton Co.
The private field with a flooded marshy area on the S side of 390th St. (1
mi. N of Bjorkboda Marsh) has been great for shorebirds in the past 3-4
weeks. It's drying up quickly now and all water may be gone by this
Saturday, but it was still full of shorebirds today, with 3 Wilson's Snipe
being the newest for me there. Two were resting in some weeds while another
was resting on one leg nearby, allowing this photo. Sunlight was too
bright from behind the snipe, so I had to crop some very bright background
out of the photo and then brighten the color of the snipe's body. I've now
seen at least 10 species there in the past month.
