- Comments: "First-year fall bird, possibly male. I first heard a soft, slightly sharp chip call coming from gazebo-area pines. I couldn’t find the bird until I was playing a rufous hummingbird call while trying to find a rufous/allen’s. The warbler appeared high in canopy in the pines just east of the gazebo. The bird was curious and foraging rather quickly, but along the outer edge of the north side of trees at a clearing. It never descended lower than twelve or so feet off the ground. It was soon joined by a western flycatcher and two anna’s. Whitish-yellow throat, olive ear/cheek patch, yellow eyering, olive-to-brown crown and nape, white underside with brownish streaking on flanks. Also: white undertail coverts. The wings each had two white wingbars, and its grey back had dark streaks. Black streaks in median coverts—indicating first-year bird. This bird did not continue to call. Photo"
