We usually have a bat, occasionally two, roost on the side of our second story, behind a window box, but none this year.

Cicadas and Tree Crickets are buzzing as darkness begins to settle in. I’m waiting for Bats. How is everyone else doing as far as local wildlife goes? I finally had a pair of Bluebirds move in on July 4th. They are still here and the female is still sitting on four (what must be dud) eggs which were supposed to have hatched on Jul 30. Have seen young House Finches, Red Bellies and Pileated and Hummers were still “J-Dancing” last week. The Orioles have been gone for five days now and we never did see any young Orioles. Purple Martins making their way in small groups south along the Black River to join their premigratory roosts. Hope you are all doing well. Fred near Port Huron.
