Subject: [ia-bird] Barn Swallows
Thought I would relate that I have easily over one hundred Barn Swallows
around my home right now. There are two active nests on the house itself.

They surround me. I have never seen this before.

Have had smaller groups in past years but usually later, end of August or
early September when they seem to be amassing for the seasonal flight south.

Any thoughts on why?

It is astonishing to watch. They line up on the power lines and very
vocally swoop all about.

Over the past few days their number has increased.
