Subject: Third Site for Painted Bunting
Continuing on our 2025 Painted Bunting Discovery Tour, my wife and I invited Piming and Judy Kuo to join us on our outing today, 6/4. We went to the Midwest Sikh Gurudwara (38.945866, -94.831796) once more. A male painted bunting, presumably the same one we saw two days earlier, dutifully made his appearance. We then drove a few miles to the "S. Bluestem Pkwy @ W. 107th Ter., Olathe, KS. (38.931939, -94.877508)" site. On June 10, 2024, a brilliant male bird greeted us there. Nothing showed up in a couple of subsequent visits last year. Therefore, it was a pleasant surprise that we once again encountered a bird. This time, it was a female/immature male. Three photos taken between 5:11 and 5:12 p.m. may be viewed here:

So far on our 2025 Painted Bunting Discovery Tour, we have identified three locations in Johnson County where this species has been found and photographed. We will keep looking for them in other likely spots.
