Observation start time: 09:30:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 5.5 hours
Official Counter: Mike Tetlow
Observers: Bridget Watts, Dan Niven
Visitors: 3
Weather: Totally cloudless sky but haze from Canadian Wildfires caused difficult viewing and glare that made viewing difficult.
Raptor Observations: Stronger SW winds than forecast forced birds out over the lake and many came in from the lake behind us so we probably missed quite a few birds. The Mississippi Kite did just that, fortunately with 2 Bald Eagles so it was caught in the scope. Still it was a great Broad-wing flight and Eagle numbers picked up later in the day. Probably a primer for a good Eagle flight tomorrow.
Non-raptor Observations: 6 Sandhill Cranes circled the area several times. Common Nighthawks started getting up in good numbers around 4 clock time (25 in one scan).
Predictions: Continued strong SW winds ahead of approaching nighttime showers should produce a good flight. At this date, Bald Eagles should have a great day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Mike Tetlow (<metetlow...>) Braddock Bay information may be found at: http://www.bbrr.org/
