Subject: Burcham: Monday
I did a quick early morning walk in Burcham- the weather was perfect with no wind. Over 3 million migrants came into the county last night. However, there was little activity in my part of the Kaw. I listed 40 species.

Rose-breasted Grosbeak - FOS1 in Burcham - rusty hinge note

There was a little warbler movement and song just before I left the park - it was not busy, but I still missed more warblers than I identified - saw several flitting in heavily leafed trees
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 3; Common Yellowthroat; 1 Yellow Warble; I Northern Waterthrush

I heard a few Swainsons Thrush song (5) but not the ubiquitous whit notes of a week ago; I had 3 Wook Ducks - a pair sat on top of a dead tree trunk in direct morning sunlight - quite a sight as always. I probably undercounted Red-headed Woodpeckers (5) but heard more of their notes. Also heard a Fish Crow & a Red-shouldered Hawk call. Heard just 1 Yellow-throated Vireo and 1 Red-eyed Vireo.

Huge numbers of Baltimore Orioles (30++) & Warbling Vireos (16) and lots of scolding notes. Alos Great-crested Flycathxhers (12( were quite noisy The woods are much dryer than usual this spring.
