Pleased to report a sighting of 15 Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks at Imperial this afternoon (May 4).
At about 5 p.m. MDT, I found the birds in the shallow ponds behind (east of) the Frenchman Valley Produce facility at the southeastern edge of Imperial. They were on the far shore, which put them too far away for good photos with my camera; but one doesn't need a terribly good photo to identify a bird that distinctive. I'm spending the night in Imperial, so will check the pond again tomorrow morning, and will report whether the birds are still present; but that report probably won't be posted until late afternoon or evening.
