It was a beautiful crisp Sunday morning along the Kaw. Although I did a shorter walk in the chilly early morning. today still seemed to be a pause or in between phases of the migration. Many birds likely exited northward. I listed 37 species.

Baltimore Oriole, Warbling, Vireo, & Swainsons Thrush all abundant. However, I only listed 4 Yellow-rumped Warblers - yesterday I likely undercounted what I saw and heard (25). I had no other Warblers - usually Nashvilles, Tennessees, & Yellows are abundant by this date. I expect they will likely be here soon.

Brown-headed Cowbirds(14) arrived.

Two pairs of Eastern phoebes have returned to their usual breeding territories. And a mass of Cliff Swallows flitted around the mass Bridge this morning.

I heard 2 Summer Tanagers, I Yellow-throated Vireo, & 1 Spotted Sandpiper. Four Fish Crows were really noisy. Just before I returned to my vehicle, the big guy - Pileated WP - laned low on the biggest tree just before the parking lot. He was close by and proceeded to do its work, despite my presence and three people fishing 15 feet away. - as I passed by under it , the WP gave its ear-shattering notes. Never tire of see this bird.
