Subject: Burcham: Thursday
It was raining when I awoke, but soon after the sun glowed so I headed to Burcham. It was the most pleasant morning of the season and pretty birdy. I listed 48 species.

Baltimore Oriole (33), Swainson Thrush (28), Great-crested Flycatcher (10), Carolina Wren (9) & Warbling Vireo (10) notes filled the air. I also heard Blue-throated Vireo (1); Red-eyed Vireo (3); Gray Catbird (1); Brown Thrasher (1) & House Wren (2). Northern Rough-winged Swallows (heard them - seemed to be calling more emphatically) & Cliff Swallows worked over the Kaw. Heard 1 Wood Duck - they have been scarce this season. I also saw Chipping Sparrows (4) and Spotted Sandpipers (5) - they look elegant in their breeding plumage & and enjoy watching the bobbing motion.

Clay-colored Sparrow - 2 FOS
Song Sparrow - 1 FOS
White-eyed Vireo - 1 FOS
Yellow-throated Vireo - 3 FOS
Summer Tanager - 2 FOS
Eastern Kingbird - 1FOS in Burcham

Warblers
Yellow-rumped - 23
Common Yellowthroat - 1
Yellow - 1
Northern Parula - 3
Blackpoll -1 FOS
Northern Waterthrush - 3 FOS

A beautiful morning when the sun was out - the action slowed when the clouds came again.
