It was a beautiful morning along the Kaw and pretty birdy to o. Some migrants, who usually arrive early, appeared in reasonably large numbers today. I walked with Joe Harrington today. I listed 38 species. Warbling Vireos sharply increased (16 calling).Heard the Barred calling, and a Pileated doing the same.
F0S Burcham birds were:
Baltimore Oriole (11 calling)
Swainsons Thrush (4 singing)
Hermit Thrush - (1)
Red-headed-Woodpecker (2 calling)
Eastern Phoebe (2 at breeding sight - their latest return I can recall)
Chipping Sparrow (1)
Yellow-rumped Warbler (18 most were singing)
Northern Parula (2 singing)
Palm Warbler (3 singing)
Common Yellowthroat (1 singing)
Joe also had a Prothonotary Warbler- & an Orange-crowned Warbler which he tried to point out to me but I just saw them flit. I believe we hard Tennessee Warblers singing at a distance or incomplete songs.
