Hi Birders,
Wild Birds Unlimited in Ames is hosting the first-ever "Iowa Bird Festival" to celebrate birds as part of World Migratory Bird Day on Saturday, May 10. The event includes bird walks around Ames as well as educational programs throughout the day. I've attached a flyer about the event for those interested.
Also, the City of Marion is hosting their annual Migratory Bird and Arbor Day Celebration on May 10 from 12-3 PM at Thomas Park in Marion. I've participated in this event for the past few years and have very much enjoyed it.
Finally, don't forget about the Tri-State Birding Conference with the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota Ornithologists' Unions May 16-18 at the Salvation Army Western Plains Camp in South Sioux City, Nebraska. There will be organized field trips to birding hotspots in all three states, and we're excited to host Michael Forsberg <https://www.michaelforsberg.com/> as our keynote speaker. Registration is open and closes on *May 8. *You can register to attend here <https://iowabirds.org/IOU/Meetings/NextMeeting.aspx>.
It's a great time to get outside and celebrate birds!
Tyler
