Hi All!\
\
Last call for the Connecticut Ornithological Association’s Aerial Insectivores Workshop held at the Scranton Memorial Library in Madison, CT this Saturday, April 26th!
Our very own Joe Attwater, who is a CT native and the Conservation & Education Coordinator for the Connecticut Audubon Society’s Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center in Old Lyme, has put together a great presentation that covers some of the common and rare species that we might see this migration season. This workshop is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Joe will go over key terminology, specific common species, the occasional rare ones we see, and what makes this group one of interest. We’ll be focusing on Swifts, Swallows, Flycatchers, and Nightjars, but Joe will also highlight some of the other species that occasionally feed “on the wing”.
The presentation begins at 10AM in the Community Room of the Scranton Memorial Library in Madison, Connecticut. We will have light snacks and a break for lunch (not provided). The break will also give you the opportunity to visit the nearby Audubon Shop as well. The field portion is planned to take 1.5 hours, but you are welcome to stay and bird for longer.
After the break, we’ll reconvene at Hammonasset Beach State Park where we’ll break into groups and search for Aerial Insectivores in the field. Please note, this field-trip is not required for participation in the presentation at the library.
Registration is required by the end of April 23rd. Please email <workshops...> to confirm your spot. Or visit www.ctbirding.org for more info.
